Tammy Park Crenshaw
Tammy Park Crenshaw attended Kansas City Art Institute in the late 70’s, early 80’s, majoring in Fiber Arts and Ceramics. “I love painting, block printing, clay and the fiber arts. My focus now is working with polymer clay.”
Tammy’s work has always been inspired by animals, tending to reflect the enlightened self-interest of both humans and their furry four-legged family members. Sometimes the work portrays a moment of domestic bliss, or the secret lives of animals and their special relations with squirrels and other suburban wildlife. Occasionally, dogs are even shown interacting with extra-terrestrials. Dogs and cats see the world differently than humans do.
Tammy’s work can be seen at various galleries and shops around the country, local art fairs, and on social media pages.
Tammy is also a certified dog trainer, working with people and their dogs both in person, and using live on-line training session. She’s helped dogs, from sea to shining sea.
“My need to continue to make art has been very important to me. Dog training can be emotionally hard work for the dog, the customer, and the trainer. Making art helps me process things.”
Tammy’s work is fun and whimsical in many ways, but if you look closely, you will see that each animal has a real personality and depth to them that speaks of the complex heart and mind that real animals have. Her work is craft, but it’s also Art. It’s complex and sometimes deep, just like real life.
